Project Overview

A sustainable, off-grid mountain cabin designed to provide a peaceful retreat in a remote natural setting. This project focused on minimizing environmental impact while maximizing comfort and energy independence.

Project Challenges

Building on mountainous terrain posed structural challenges, and environmental regulations required the project to minimize disturbance to the local ecosystem. Additionally, the cabin needed to be fully self-sufficient, operating off the grid without access to municipal utilities.

Project Solution

The design team selected a location that minimized the environmental impact and employed sustainable building materials such as locally sourced wood and stone. Solar panels and wind turbines provided the cabin’s power, while rainwater collection and filtration systems met water needs. The interior was designed to blend rustic charm with modern amenities, including energy-efficient appliances and insulation to maintain comfort year-round.

Key features:

  • Exterior Design: Timber frame construction using local wood and stone, designed to blend into the environment.
  • Sustainability Features: Solar panels, wind turbines, and rainwater harvesting systems.
  • Interior: Rustic interiors with exposed beams, wood-burning stoves, and energy-efficient appliances.
